Things are still moving quite nicely in our adoption journey. We got our appointment papers from USICS on Wed for May 27th, but the lovely city of STL will go ahead and give you the fingerprints early as long as you show your appointment letter---so Friday we headed down to the Robert A. Young Federal Building, we had to wait a whopping 15 minutes and then we were done. It was painless, easy, and fast. Now we just wait for the approval form to come back and we send off our dossier to DC. We are hoping and praying to be on the waiting list by the end of May! If not then for sure by Father's Day. Wouldn't that be great?
Today was our 5K. It was such an answer to prayer. It was suppose to be raining the hardest w/ possible thunderstorms from 8 to 9am. But it started raining earlier than expected and was DONE by 7:30 am. By 8:30 when the race started, it was GORGEOUS. God gave us such a beautiful day to race and celebrate. We raised $2535 from the 5K alone. See the current fundraisers for details and sponsors. We have raised/paid for 1/3 the cost of the adoption so far. We are taking a "summer vacation" from any fundraisers, but will hopefully hear back from some of the grants we have applied for this summer and may try my hand at an online auction in the early fall.
God continues to amaze me. Please pray for those on this journey. It is so different than a pregnancy. The answers don't come fast enough and the waiting is torturous for some (I am not there yet, but I have friends that are). Also, some mom's hearts are ripped from them, as they have met their child (children) and yet haven't had the official ok to go get them (adoptive parents have to make 2 trips to Ethiopia). I do not look forward to that part at all.
I pray for a Happy Mother's Day to all.I know I am blessed beyond measure and will enjoy the company of my 3 current blessings tomorrow and pray for my future blessing.
***OOPS-I don't pretend to mean that this is harder than pregnancies....(I have lived through three). I just mean it is different. Pros & Cons to each. :)
